As educator, and student myself , I recognize that students are at different developmental levels, with a variety of needs and interests. I strongly believe that motivation and education work together, as a way to maximaze the learning outcomes. As Richard Lavoie points "Many teachers brand kids as lazy. I thought they just weren't trying, whereas now I realize that's really something we call "learned helplessness." When a child faces failure enough times, he begins to feel he's not going to succeed and doesn't see any sense in investing himself. Every child hits this sort of motivation brick wall at some point, and then what we do as teachers and parents, unfortunately, is sort of blame the victim and say that it's the child's fault. "
I've decided to create leaning land as a way to motivate our children, using Project Based Leaning , Constructivism approaches, as well as Universal Design for Leaning."Universal Design for Learning calls for ...
- Multiple means of representation, to give learners various ways of acquiring information and knowledge,
- Multiple means of expression, to provide learners alternatives for demonstrating what they know,
- Multiple means of engagement, to tap into learners' interests, offer appropriate challenges, and increase motivation"

Richard Lavoie once said :"These kids don't come with batteries included, and you need to put those batteries in he had a teacher that once said to him, "I taught it to him, but he didn't learn it." He answred: "That's like a salesman saying to his boss, 'I sold it to him, but he didn't buy it.' "
We assume that the kid's will come thru the door totally motivated and sit there and learn, and it simply isn't true. You need to continue to be a salesman and a motivator .
For this reason in every class I attempt to provide all of the students teaming experiences through educational experiences that are beneficial and enjoyable.
